| Miranda Taylor Cosgrove was born on May 14, 1993 in
Los Angeles, California. She has Italian, Welsh, Russian, Armenian and
Slavic heritage. She was discovered at the age of three when an agent
saw her dancing and singing at a restaurant. He was amazed by her talent
and she briefly started doing commercials for the agency. After she finished
elementary school, she was homeschooled in order to pursue her career
in the stardom. Later on, she started an online school program which she
has been doing since 2006.
She began doing commercials for McDonald's & Burger King. As time
went on, she auditioned for several roles both in TV and films. In 2003,
she landed the role of Summer Hathaway, the student she performed in the
film School of Rock starring Jack Black. The movie turned out to be was
a smashing hit. Then, she played Megan Parker, the scheming sister of
Drake, on TV series Drake & Josh.
In 2005, Miranda starred as Joni North in the film Yours, Mine, and Ours.
Her character was the sister of Dylan North (Drake Bell), who is her co-star
in Drake & Josh. In 2006, she had a minor appearance in the movie
Keeping Up with the Steins as Karan Sussman. Later that year, she starred
in a feature-length episode of Drake & Josh titled Drake & Josh
Go Hollywood, and also appeared in the second feature-length episode Drake
& Josh: Really Big Shrimp, which aired August 3, 2007. Production
on Drake & Josh finished in the same year.
Miranda has participated in several shows of Nickelodeon, such as All
That, Zoey 101, Just Jordan and Unfabulous.
In June 2008, she released a CD titled iCarly with music from and inspired
of the hit series. The music video of her single "Leave It All To
Me" debuted on Nickelodeon's TEENick on May 24, after an episode
of iCarly.
She has released her new single Stay My Baby, on Myspace ad Facebook.
The song was a cover of Amy Diamond.
She currently plays Carly Shay in the Nickelodeon show iCarly, which
debuted on September 8, 2007. Miranda performs the series opening song
with backing vocals by Drake Bell.
